Polymer Post Insulator

Polymer Post Insulator – Comes Equipped with Insulation Class Capability for the 21st Century

What is a Polymer Post Insulator?

The Polymer Post Insulator is a high strength electically insulator, also referred to as a post insulator, used primarily in substations and transmission linies to mechanically support conductors and equipment, while simultaneously electrically isolating their equipment. Unlike a traditional porcelain post insulator, Polymer Insulators are made with developed composite materials usually consisting of a fiberglass reinforced composite rod (core) covered by a silicone rubber or EPDM outer casing. These modern designs have been engineered to achieve optimum mechanical and electrical performance in harsh conventional and polluted environmental conditions.

General Features of Polymer Post Insulators

Excellent Electrical Insulation
The polymer insulators were developed for operation under extreme voltage potential, so they provide excellent dielectric strength to ensure the useable insulation profile is maintained when necessary.

Light Weight, Mechanical Impact Resistance
Polymer insulators are a considerably lower weight than equal ceramic insulators. Thus polymer insulators rank favorable advantages on the application aspects of transit, handling, and installation.

Excellent Resistance to Pollution & UV exposure
Silicone rubber and elastomers have inherent hydrophobic and self-cleaning properties, which make any dirt and moisture accumulation quickly return to a safe and reliable isolate, commonly used in coastal, industrial, and desert environments or any environments using contaminated voltage.

Excellent Mechanical Strength
The composite nature of a fiberglass rod core, provides excellent tensile & compressive strength consumption and can be used on many reliable insulator applications with extreme loads.

Low Maintenance Potential
The self-cleaning surface maintains low dirt and moisture per accumulation and can mean reduced for inspection of insulators or reduced cleanings.
