22 kV Polymer Pin Insulator – Enhanced Insulation for Overhead Power Lines
The 22 kV polymer pin insulator is an innovative, efficient, lightweight, and incredibly reliable means of providing insulation and mechanical support for overhead medium voltage (MV) lines. Built from composite materials, polymer insulators have become the go to choice for safe and effective power transfer at 22,000 volts throughout electrical distribution networks.
What is a 22 kV Polymer Pin Insulator?
A 22kV polymer pin insulator is a type of electrical insulator that essentially provides isolation from the energized conductors from the physical support structures provided in MV systems. With a fiberglass reinforced resin core, silicone rubber housing, and silicone rubber sheds, the polymer pin insulator provides excellent electrical insulation, mechanical integrity, and weather resistance.
Polymer insulators are increasingly common as a replacement for older porcelain or glass insulators which weight more, can have a dangerous shattering failure, and have more problems with environmental degradation than polymer.
